Privacy Policy
Effective October 1, 2026
Pantry Time is made by McGork Productions LLC ("we"). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the Pantry Time app on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch, and this website.
- We don't collect your data. There are no accounts, ads, analytics or tracking, and no Pantry Time servers.
- Your pantry, shopping list, recipes and meal plan stay on your devices and in your own iCloud.
- Apple Intelligence features run on your device. Private Cloud Compute is used only if you turn it on.
- The app only sends something over the internet when you ask it to: opening a recipe page, or looking up a barcode.
What stays on your device
Your pantry items and products, recipes, meal plan, cooking progress, scans and settings are stored on your device. Photos you take for scanning, labels and receipts are read on your device by Apple's Vision and VisionKit and are not kept. Recipe reading, ingredient matching, receipt reading, produce recognition, substitutions and the Ask Pantry Time assistant use Apple's on-device Foundation Models. Siri, Spotlight and widgets index your items and recipes on your device.
Meals you log are kept only on the device you logged them on, and in Apple Health if you turn that on.
iCloud
If you're signed in to iCloud, Pantry Time syncs your pantry, shopping list, recipes and meal plan between your devices through your own iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit. If you share your pantry with your household, the people you invite can see and change the shared pantry, recipes and plan; you can stop sharing or leave a household at any time in Settings. Unless you turn it off in Settings > Recipe Library, your recipes are also kept as plain files: in your iCloud Drive when it's available, or in Pantry Time's folder in the Files app on that device. This data is stored by Apple under your Apple Account. We can't see it.
Apple Health
If you choose to log meals to Apple Health, Pantry Time writes the nutrition of each meal you log. It writes dietary energy, protein, carbohydrates, total, saturated, monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fat, fiber, sugar, cholesterol, sodium, potassium, calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, zinc, copper, manganese, selenium, caffeine, folate, niacin, riboflavin, thiamin, pantothenic acid, and vitamins A, B6, B12, C, D, E and K, as far as the recipe's nutrition includes them. Pantry Time never reads your Health data. Health data is never used for advertising or shared with anyone. You can delete these entries in the Health app, or remove a logged meal in Pantry Time.
Reminders
If you allow it, Pantry Time reads and writes the Reminders list you choose as your shopping list: it adds items you run out of, notices when you check them off, and recognizes groceries you or your family add to that list. Your reminders stay in Apple's Reminders.
Things the app sends over the internet for you
- Recipe pages and photos. When you import a recipe from a link, the app downloads that page and its photo directly from that website, like a web browser. The website sees an ordinary web request from your device.
- Photos in recipe links. A recipe link someone sends you can carry the web address of the recipe's photo. Pantry Time and the pantrytime.app recipe page don't load it until you press "Load photo from" that site. Then your device downloads it directly from that site, like a web browser, and the site sees an ordinary web request from your device.
- Barcode lookups. When you scan a barcode Pantry Time doesn't know yet, the barcode number is sent to Open Food Facts to look up the product. Nothing else is sent with it. Open Food Facts has its own privacy policy.
- Private Cloud Compute (optional). Off by default. If you turn on "Use Private Cloud Compute for difficult imports", the text or image of a recipe that's too long or messy to read on your device is sent to Apple's Private Cloud Compute to be read. Apple processes it without storing it, and we never receive it. Nothing else is ever sent. Learn about Private Cloud Compute.
Pantry Time doesn't use any third-party analytics, advertising or AI services.
Recipe links
When you send a recipe with Pantry Time, the whole recipe travels inside the link, in the part after the # sign. Browsers never send that part to a website, so pantrytime.app never receives the recipe. This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics. It loads nothing from other sites, except a recipe's photo when you press "Load photo from" its site on the recipe page. That photo comes straight from the site that hosts it, and the page doesn't pass along the link or tell that site where you came from.
Children
Pantry Time isn't directed to children and collects no information from anyone, including children.
Keeping and deleting your data
We don't hold any of your data, so there's nothing for us to delete. You stay in control:
- Delete items, recipes and meal plans in the app. Deleted recipes stay in Recently Deleted in the recipe library copy for 30 days.
- Delete Pantry Time's iCloud data in Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Manage Account Storage (or Manage Storage) > Pantry Time.
- Delete logged meals in Pantry Time (Settings > Health > Logged Meals) and the matching entries in the Health app.
- Stop sharing, or leave a household, in Pantry Time's Settings.
- Turn off access to the camera, Reminders or Siri at any time in your device's Settings > Privacy & Security, and change what Pantry Time may write to Health in Settings > Health > Data Access & Devices > Pantry Time.
Who else is involved
Apple provides iCloud, Apple Health, Reminders, Siri and Apple Intelligence, including Private Cloud Compute, under Apple's own privacy policy. Open Food Facts receives barcode numbers for lookups. We don't share any of your personal information with anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the date at the top. If a change affects what leaves your device, we'll also say so in the app's release notes.
